Check out the five best releases from Jordan Brand in 2014. This year called by many in the sneaker world as the “Year of the VI”, was a very big year for the Air Jordan VI.
5/ In 5th place, we got the Air Jordan 8 Retro Doernbecher.
Continuing the yearly charitable collaboration between Nike and the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital of Oregon, this year’s Air Jordan entry into the collection was the Air Jordan 8. Designed by patient Caden Lampert, who is diagnosed with Guillain-BarrĂ© syndrome, the wild, yet not overdone colorway features a vibrant blue speckled upper with personal detailing from Caden throughout. It’s definitely the most distinct version of the Air Jordan 8 ever, and one of the best Doernbecher Air Jordans yet.
4/ Air Jordan 6 Retro “Sport Blue” take the 4th place of the list.
The long-awaited original ‘White/Sport Blue/Black’ colorway of the Air Jordan 6 finally returned in 2014. The simple yet effective colorway was welcomed with open arms by Air Jordan fans everywhere, and was certainly one of the most popular Jordan releases of the year.
3/ The 3rd of this list is the Air Jordan 13 Retro “Grey Toe”.
The “Grey Toes” were back again this year, after first dropping in 2005. There were a couple of changes with the new retro (a lighter shade of red and a grey suede tongue instead of the 2005 version’s white leather) but nobody was complaining because if anything, they made the shoe look even better.
2/
One of the most well received flagship game shoes in years, the Air Jordan XX9 features an excellent combination of style packed with performance. “Tailored for Flight”, the XX9 features a unique all-woven upper that provides structure, support, and comfort up top, while the full-length Zoom Air cushioning supported by the Flight Plate keeps them responsive and stable. It all combines for an entry into the rich Air Jordan lineage that will surely go down as one of the best when it’s all said and done.
1/ Air Jordan 6 Retro Black/Infrared take the first place of this list.
Black Friday’s now annual major Air Jordan release was again huge this year, as the most popular colorway of one of the best Air Jordans ever dropped: the "Black/Infrared" Air Jordan 6. There’s really nothing else that needs to be said to convince you why these make it into the best Jordan releases of the year.
